It's all about love and peace

from Helen About 13 years ago I I was walking in Cardiff  when a man came up to me and told me what amazing hair I had. I thanked him. He then asked where I had my hair done. I told him. He then asked me how much it cost. I looked at him strangely but answered all the same ,  he then told me that he was opening a new hair salon.  He then made me , what he described as an incredible opening offer. He explained how great his salon was going to be. I asked how much a haircut would cost and he quoted me twice as much as I was already paying. I said no thank you but he persisted ,  after a while I commented that he had told me that my hair looked great already, why would I pay more ??  When we were in Gowerton I had a phone call from a company who had just cleaned the front of the Brangwyn and they would like to do the same for the Church in Gowerton. I thought this was a bit of a cheek but didn ’ t say anything until he commented on the huge moss problem that he could see on the fron

Give to God all that is his

In the film ‘Oh God’ which came out in the late 1970’s, the idea was mentioned that the reason God gave Adam and Eve no clothes to wear was because God knew that once they had clothes, they would want pockets, and once they had pockets, they would want  money ! Talk about money is always a little bit controversial in Churches – some people think it should never be mentioned, that it’s somehow a dirty subject, however Jesus taught more about money than any other subject.  Twenty-seven of Jesus' 43 parables, have to do with money and possessions. One of every ten verses in the gospels deals with money in some way. The Bible includes 500 verses on prayer, fewer than 500 on faith, but more than 2000 on money.  Today’s gospel reading (Matthew 22:15-22) is one of those passages that deals with money and more precisely taxes … There’s a story about a little boy who wanted £100 desperately. He prayed for one week but nothing happened. Then he decided to write God  a letter reque

A good harvest

As you can tell it is harvest today. In the week I found some harvest jokes that I would am going to tell you …. Why shouldn't you tell a secret on a farm? Because the potatoes have eyes and the corn has ears!  Why did the scarecrow win the Nobel Prize? Because he was out standing in his field!  What day do potatoes hate the most? Fry-day!  What farm animal keeps the best time? A watch dog!  Well, har vest festival is here again. I  am sometimes over polite – I am the type of person who will say thank you to someone at a shop counter for taking my money _  Why ?  I will thank p eople for insulting  me .   Why ?   When we are visit i ng our close family, I ask if I can use their toilet please –  Why ? Anyway, being like that you can imagine that having a day when we are told to give thanks is an amazing event for me. Harvest is a reminder to say thank you to God and it is also a reminder of the good food and comfortable life that we have. It is also a day when we rememb
